How do I make an appointment? You can phone 506-206-2667 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to set up an appointment. I will send you an email packet including practice information and intake forms.
How long does it take to get an appointment? The time from contact to first appointment varies but it usually isn’t more than six weeks. It can also depend on which services you are looking for.
What can I do while waiting for my appointment? This is a good time to check in with your family doctor. Even if you are certain that you don’t want medication, the family doctor can help to rule out medical issues that could be affecting how you feel. I also prefer to work in collaboration with your doctor, especially in postpartum cases or with anxiety or depression.
You can also start keeping a journal of your thoughts and feelings. This is often a big help, and people say that if they put that material in the journal it sometimes stops bothering them inside their heads. That can be a welcome change!
What is the charge? Individual psychotherapy is billed at $150.00 per hour session, which includes 50 minutes of face to face time. Group psychotherapy is billed at $46.00 per session, usually 90 minutes. Home visits for early postpartum or child-parent psychotherapy are billed at the usual rate plus travel time.
Do you take insurance? Because services are delivered by a licensed (registered) psychologist, most insurance plans provide some coverage. It is your responsibility to see what your plan covers. Generally speaking, you pay for the service as you receive it and then submit your receipt to your insurance company for reimbursement.
How do I pay? You can pay your fee by cheque, cash or by electronic transfer (interact email transfer). If you use the email transfer, please set things up so that the password is NEILL.
What if I can’t afford your fees? I can often work with you to figure out a way to get you services. There are some low cost therapy providers in our city, and agencies that can offer a sliding scale. It might be worthwhile to come in for an initial consultation and see if we can figure out a way for you to get what you need.
