Fredericton Bioenergetics offers individual sessions, group therapy, and retreats
Bioenergetic therapy helps us to get in touch with our true selves, the parts of ourselves that we may have had to hide, or leave behind, or push away. Those things can happen during the course of a very typical childhood and adulthood, but they leave us feeling incomplete or tired, or not quite as alive as we might be.
Bioenergetics is deep work; often it goes much deeper than talk therapy. In bioenergetics analysis, certified therapists have been through their own deep therapy work. When you are working with a certified bioenergetics therapist (CBT), you know that person has been in your shoes as a client.
In bioenergetics, we listen to what your body has to say as well as to your words. We help you regain the connections between your thoughts, your feelings, and your body experiences. We acknowledge that the body and the brain/mind have self-healing tendencies, and that there is an inner drive toward wholeness and wellness that we all share.
Therapy in bioenergetics is a collaborative process. Your therapist gently guides you to an increasing awareness of your internal processes, using talk, breathing, movement and expression to help make connections. You work between sessions through your increasing self-awareness to see where there may be patterns of behaviour and relating that are not serving you well. You share with your therapist and with her you can explore more deeply.
What a session looks like: there is emphasis on breathing and movement, with careful attention to how everything feels to the person. Sometimes movement helps people to recall memories, or it generates feelings, or brings new understanding of the self. Bioenergetics sessions may be very quiet, with little talk, or they may be vibrant and charged.
I was trained in the Atlantic Canada Bioenergetic Society Training group beginning in 2003, and got my certification in 2011.
